About

Unlocking Potential with Community Learning
Saturdays in the D (SITD) is a free program offered by the City of Detroit in partnership with the University of Michigan Center for Innovation that providesresidents free opportunities to continue learning in unconventional ways with the quality of traditional educations. From hands-on workshops to creative classes, SITD makes learning feel fresh, accessible, and rooted in everyday life. It’s a community-centered space where Detroiters of all ages come together to learn, grow, connect, and have fun.

Discover, Connect, and Thrive Together
In 2023 Saturdays in the D (SITD) expanded through a collaboration between the city of Detroit and the University of Michigan. In addition to youth programming for students in grades 6-12, it now provides professional development opportunities to adult residents.
SITD has become an umbrella program that includes a wide variety of experiences with different structures, audiences, and activities, ironically not always on Saturdays, but with one shared goal: to promote learning and skill development for Detroiters.
Saturdays in the D is supported by Ally Financial through financial support, peer mentors, and financial literacy opportunities.
